WHAT WE DO

[Why NFP?][Clinical Services][Education Programs][NFP in Practice]

Clinical Services

  • Over 200 fully trained and accredited NFP teachers provide clinical services from 135 NFP centres around Australia. See where our centres are located in ACCESS TO SERVICES.
  • To become autonomous in NFP will require personal instruction during one or more consultations (depending on the type of service sought) with one of our accredited NFP teachers.
  • Most of our services are directed at assisting couples to avoid pregnancy. Each pregnancy avoidance service is designed to educate clients in their own particular reproductive physiology, which will be influenced by whether the client has a previous history of hormonal contraception, is recently delivered of an infant and/or is breast-feeding, or is peri-menopausal.
  • An important application of NFP is to achieve pregnancy. Many couples are finding that knowledge of NFP combined with the ongoing expertise and support of our educators can make a difference. Used as a first point of reference NFP educators can frequently assist sub-fertile couples to conceive simply by teaching them how to identify the ovulatory stage of the menstrual cycle. Should sophisticated IVF technology be necessary, the couples will be well versed in their reproductive physiology before being referred to fertility programs.

  • It has been documented that almost half of those who are sexually active use a ‘natural’ method of fertility control – at some time in their reproductive life cycle. This finding highlights the need for every female to be aware of the fertile/unfertile period during the menstrual cycle in order to avoid pregnancy. A knowledge of fertility awareness can also alert women to early signs of disease of the reproductive tract.
  • NFP centres offer a clinical services in natural family planning and sexual awareness. It is well worth checking out your local NFP centre . . .
